THE CHALLENGE
Hub bearings are one of the most crucial parts of vehicles as it bears various forces and dynamic torques of cars. The quality of hub bearings will affect the safety of vehicles. During the manufacturing process, cracks appear inevitably at the riveting parts of hub bearings which will cause great danger. Therefore, it is necessary to have a mechanism to detect the tiny cracks on hub bearings.
THE TESTED BEARING
There are four man-made cracks in different positions on the tested bearing.
FINAL PRODUCT
The whole system is made up with four sections: conveyor belts, mechanical arm and its position adjusting mechanism, testing plane (sensors and their position adjusting mechanism) and screening mechanism.
