THE CHALLENGE

Individuals who rely on public transportation, walking or biking as their means of commuting are disadvantaged in the amount of items they can carry. Common errands such as grocery shopping become an inconvenience especially if the individual must walk a substantial distance on food carrying an extra load.

In such situations, a need exists for a device that can distribute the weight of bags on an individual.

A GLIMPSE OF THE FINAL DESIGN

EXISTING PRODUCTS

Only targeted for people carrying bags in hands!

Or just simply too big to fit in your backpack!

CONCEPT SKETCHES & USER INSTRUCTIONS

Hookpack is a device that helps people carry grocery bags on their shoulders in order to free their hands. It has two vertical frames, one mounting rod, two pins, two knobs and three sets of a strap and buckle subassembly. It is no only light and easy to carry, but also takes minimal effort to assemble and disassemble.

The way of using is fairly easy too.

First, unfold the collapsed Hookpack by releasing the buckles and unwinding straps as shown in the upper left picture. Reclip the buckles on the verticle shoulder straps running through the frames. Then put grocery bags in the slots provided on the mounting rod. Next, slide the mounting rod in the slots on the two frames as shown in the upper right picture and slide the L-pin to the "down" position. Finally, pick up Hookpack and wear the straps around the waist to secure the grocery bags.

Hookpack is a device which helps people to carry grocery bags on their shoulders in order to free their hands. It’s made up of two vertical bars, one middle rod, two sets of pins and knobs, and three sets of a strap and buckle subassembly (Figure 1). With only eight components, Hookpack is not only light and easy to carry, but also takes almost no effort to assemble and disassemble.
